Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test

by Mr. Zorzit - March 31, 2010

Dear Parents / Guardians

The Ontario Secondary School Literacy test (OSSLT) will be written on Thursday April 8, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. for all students currently enrolled in their second year of high school and all those who entered grade nine after the 2009 – 2008 school year but were unsuccessful on the previous test. A successful completion of the OSSLT is a graduation requirement.

The test will begin at 9:00 a.m. sharp and run until 11:30 a.m. with a scheduled break at 10:15 a.m.
Parents and guardians are asked to make every effort to have your son/daughter at school and on time on the day of the test. Our literacy team has been very busy preparing students for the test. Students who participated in our “practice test” and were struggling with some of the sections were given a booklet and provided with additional support inpreperation for the test. The booklet is called “Don’t Panic” – More Practice for the OSSLT (2nd edition).

If you have any questions or concerns about the Literacy Test, please feel free to contact the school at 945.7181. You can also visit www.eqao.com for more information about the test and for a variety of student resources.

Students should be well rested and have a good breakfast the morning of the test and be at school no later than 8:45 a.m. Remember please be here, be on time, and be prepared. That’s Thursday April 8, 2010. Good Luck!
