Yearbooks, Yearbooks, Yearbooks!!
Yearbooks are the only book that students look forward to reading each and every year. It tells a story of the school year through pictures and captions. A yearbook is a great way to look back on your year and to remember the good times you and your friends had. This year, the yearbook class is working extra hard to bring a brand new look to the White Pines yearbook. New designs, pictures and captions are being added so that your year is captured the right way. The Yearbook Course (TGJ3M/4M) emphasizes knowledge and skills that will enable students to understand media communications in the twenty-first century and to use media effectively and responsible. Students are introduced to the latest in industry software such as Photoshop and InDesign. The students are learning to convey a message through an original image and to learn the language of photography. This class is filled with the latest computers and a full functioning photography studio to capture that perfect picture. Also, later in the year, the class will receive new computer chairs (Just like the one that your teacher sits in that your so jealous of) This year, Mr. Calvano decided to start a Yearbook/Photography club. This club focuses on teaching the members how to properly use InDesign, how to use a camera and how to take a perfect picture. This is a fascinating way to learn how to use the latest design programs and to learn how your White Pines yearbook is being designed every year. There is a catch though (isn’t there always) This club only offers 6 spots so hurry and sign up before it’s too late. There is also a 4 person waiting list, so if you manage to obtain a spot on that, then it might be your lucky day. The new yearbook will be sold in September, so pre order your book! There are students who sell at the front of the cafeteria every Thursday and Friday, so make sure that you have 50 dollars handy! Now I don’t want brag or anything BUT in the yearbook, you will be seeing new advertisements from businesses allover Sault Ste. Marie thanks to Sammi Biocchi and Alyssa Berry who raised close to 1000 dollars in advertisements. If you have an interest in buying a yearbook or joining the Yearbook Club, there is sign up sheets in guidance and at the front of the office or you can always talk to Mr. Calvano, he wont bite!
